Stride for Sailability
Keeping Disabled Sailors Afloat
Formed in 1997, Dart Sailability enables anybody with any physical or mental disability to enjoy sailing, boating, racing, wildlife cruises and social activities throughout the year.
Daisy was nine when she joined and says: “I love sailing because it frees me from the confinement of my wheelchair. After sailing I always feel exhilarated, and my mind is clear. My mental health benefits, the fresh air helps my lungs, and my body feels good from the physical activity.”
The charity has some 150 members comprising disabled sailors and volunteers and has no employees. It is a Royal Yachting Association approved training centre, and all members can gain RYA qualifications and First Aid certificates. It costs about £30,000 a year to keep our sailors afloat and our varied fleet ensures that everybody is included.
Please help Dart Sailability keep its sailors on the water by supporting Stride for Sailability. Enjoy Devon’s spectacular scenery into the bargain!
