There is no compulsory kit for any of our ultra-races except for a fully charged mobile phone switched on to ring, not silent, and a water bottle/hydration pack with a minimum of 500ml of water (please note that the Race Director may increase this minimum if conditions necessitate).

We do have a list of recommended kit which can be found by following the link from any of our event pages. This is a minimum and you are welcome to bring whatever you normally run with.

The 3 start groups are based on mileage per hour.

  • Walkers start: 3 miles per hour (20-minute miles)
  • Main Start: 4-6 miles per hour (10-minute miles)
  • Elite Group: 7-9 miles per hour (<10-minute miles)

It is important that you do not start too early as the checkpoint and finish opening times are based on the above timings. If you have mainly been racing on the road, remember that pace on most trails will be slower due to the terrain.

Your race number will be given to you at registration on day 1 of the event and you will keep it for the duration. Where timing chips are used, we will issue them at the start of each day once you check in to confirm that you will be running. Please remember to return the chip to the organisers as you finish each day’s run, or we won’t be able to upload your results – or check that you’ve made it!

We want to make sure all our events are fully inclusive and that all female participants feel comfortable, safe and welcome.

Most of our events are run on clearly marked national trails or route marked paths. Where they are not following a National Trail, we will put out markers/spray paint/tape to help you stay on course.

At all events, you are given a route card or OS maps with the route clearly marked. For all events, you also have the option to download GPS route data.

No! We wait until the last person still running/walking has finished.

As part of your entry process, you have the opportunity to take out booking protection insurance. This enables you to get a full refund if you have to cancel your entry. The XNRG refund policy is that we will give you a 70% refund of your entry fee up to 1 month before the start date of the event. After this time, we are sorry there will be no refunds or transfers to future events. Refunds will be to your booking credit card.
