Single-day ultra marathons - with a difference
To date, we've run seven single-day 50km ultras with Humanity Direct. For anyone who's taken part in any of the Humanity Direct series, you'll know from our 'thank you' emails how much of a difference your entrance fee and fundraising make. As we approach July's Humanity Direct Chiltern Challenge, we thought it was high time to take a closer look at the amazing work the charity does - and how far the money raised has actually gone.
What we've helped to do
Each race raises roughly £10,000 - all of which goes directly towards life-changing and life-saving healthcare and surgical procedures for children in developing countries. In total, XNRG runners have raised around £85,000.
So, what does that look like? That's funded nearly 250 operations, including everything from hernias (and their complications) to skin grafts (for children who have fallen into cooking fires) and removing enlarged adenoids (for children struggling to breathe) - and so much more. We've also funded children's glasses and eye surgery. As a result of the single-day ultras, Humanity Direct have been able to hand out more than 1,500 pairs of spectacles!

Run your first ultra
As well as raising vital funds for a great cause, our Humanity Direct events are the perfect introduction to ultra-running for anyone stepping up to endurance distances. 50km and over a single-day, all within a stone's throw of London, they're well-supported, with no cut-off times. XNRG events are known for their great atmosphere. You'll meet and mingle with everyone from fellow first-timers to seasoned ultramarathoners. Everyone's welcome. You do the running - we'll do the rest.
