Nine years ago, after the Marathon Des Sables, XNRG (Extreme Energy) Ultra Marathons were born. Founder Neil Thubron wanted to create family-feel ultra events that would help desert hopefuls prepare for the world's toughest foot race - and the first Druid's Challenge, three days along on the Ridgeway was the first XNRG multi-day race.
Here at XNRG, we see so many Marathon Des Sables competitors-in-training at our events across the year, so it's always such a special time just before the MDS. This is an increasingly tough race to get into, and once you're in, the race is a gruelling test of endurance and utter determination. Well done to everyone who'll make it to the start line in the forthcoming race this week, good luck with your 156 miles and we'd like to say a special good luck to the amazing Kevin Webber who will be once again, raising money for prostate cancer.

Taking part in a desert race is a fantasic experience and great challenge. It should not be under estimated, but should also not be over complicated. Remember to keep it simple. Most of all – enjoy every minute from when you get on the plane to when you have a celebratory beer or glass of wine or a coke in the bar at the end.
