Round The Island Isle of Wight Multistage Ultra
June 19th to 20th 2010
69 miles 2 days
Extreme Energy are delighted to the Round The Island multistage
ultra, following the Isle of Wight Coastal Path.
The Round The
Island sailing race is an annual, famous event which up to 2000
boats take part in every year, from professional races on huge
yachts to amateurs and families on their smaller boats.
So we thought
wouldn’t it be fun to run a Round The Island Race on the same
weekend.
We will run
clockwise round the island which will mean that amongst the stunning
views of the main land and the English Channel we will be able to
see all the boats come around the Island as the afternoon goes on.
We will be in West
Cowes Friday night and the place will be buzzing with yachties prior
to the next days racing.
This event will
suit those who want a new challenge, people looking for an
alternative to running marathons, those training for events like the
Marathon des Sables or anyone who would just wants a fabulous scenic
run around the Isle of Wight.
The event is open
to runners and walkers.

Route
/ Navigation:
The route follows the coastal path. It is marked the whole way by
blue signs with a white seagull on them. So long as you keep your
eyes open and the sea on your left, navigation is straightforward.
We would suggest that you bring the OS map of the Island with you.
Supporters / Volunteers:
If there are any supporters of competitors that want to support
throughout the event then we would love to have you along.
If you are able to help man checkpoints / water stations etc then we
would be prepared to provide you with food and accommodation for
free throughout the event.
The advantage for the competitor is of course not just that they
have someone cheering them along and getting their food in the
evening !!, more importantly they have someone there to take them
home.
Route Detail:
Clockwise around the Island Coastal path. Checkpoint details to
follow nearer the time.
