Anna Thubron

Anna Thubron, from Buckinghamshire, will start her 50th birthday celebrations in a unique way this Sunday by running a marathon everyday throughout May.

Covering a distance of over 800 miles Anna is aiming to raise over £5000 for Humanity Direct, a charity funding life saving and life changing surgery for children in developing countries.

Anna will run 26.2 miles every day in several locations including throughout the Chilterns, along the Thames Path and the Isle of Wight completing each marathon distance in about 5 – 7 hours, depending on the route and terrain.

As a personal trainer Anna is no stranger to pushing herself to the limit having twice run as an elite runner in the London marathon and coming 10th UK Lady in the Austria Ironman. However, this is the first time Anna will have run so many consecutive marathons.

“I set myself this challenge as I wanted to find a unique way to celebrate my birthday that means a lot to me.  I can’t wait to start and to see how much I can push myself and of course how much money I can raise for a fantastic cause – Humanity Direct.”

Anna’s challenge is expected to fund over 20 operations including cataract operations and neurosurgery for children in Uganda and Somaliland.

Nick Swift, Humanity Direct Founder, said: “We are amazed by the challenge Anna is going to undertake for our patients. Anna’s fundraising will dramatically improve the lives of so many children whose treatable conditions would otherwise result in a life-long disability or who could die from easily correctable surgical problems such as hernias.”
